Founded in 1983 by Rosemary Alexander, The English Gardening School has trained professional and amateur gardeners from all over the world. The School offers an unprecedented range of courses for all gardeners from the green-fingered beginner to the professional garden designer. Location - most classes are held in the world-famous Chelsea Physic Garden, one of Europe’s oldest botanic gardens, in central London, 15 minutes walk from Sloane Square. Founded in 1673, the four acres contain over 5000 plant species. We offer part time one year Diploma Courses, Distance Learning and Short Courses of one to ten days duration.

At the 2006 Chelsea Flower Show the College won a Silver Gilt for its "Turning Red Tomatoes Green" exhibit, which appeared in the Science and Education category. The exhibit examined the re-use of waste materials and was based on research conducted at the College into the use of processed green waste as ingredients in composts.

 

A second floral exhibit, put together with The Sun newspaper, achieved a Silver medal and consisted of a seven metre pyramid of stocks.
